Through a Town Centre Partnership initiative we have been installing granite benches throughout the Harbour to replace in many places old wooden type benches which suffer because of the lack of up keep. In addition in consultation with the Harbourmaster sites have been identified where there have been no facilities for the public to sit and enjoy the delightful views within the busy Harbour.

There are two types of Bench which have been accepted by the Environment Department one is a cantilever type which is attached to the Harbour wall in a number of areas and the stand alone type. Careening Hard, Crown Pier, Albert Pier ,St Julian’s Emplacement, The Fisherman’s Store close to the Model Yacht Pond and the Viewing area at the Model Yacht Pond are locations for 60 benches now installed. In addition one bench has been installed on the walkway beside the North Beach Car Park where we have permission to install in total 24 benches.
